Terms of Use

Last updated: 1 November 2026

1. About these terms and about us

1.1 These terms of use ("Terms") apply when you use the TradeAmigo website at www.tradeamigo.net and the TradeAmigo app (together, the "Platform"). Please read them carefully. When you create an account or use the Platform, you agree to these Terms.

1.2 TradeAmigo is a trading name of Sharna Marshall, a sole trader based in England. "We", "us" and "our" mean Sharna Marshall trading as TradeAmigo. TradeAmigo is not a limited company. TradeAmigo is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged on our fees or memberships.

1.3 How to contact us:

  • Email: hello@tradeamigo.net
  • The Contact us form on the Platform

1.4 These Terms should be read with:

  • our Privacy Policy at www.tradeamigo.net/privacy-policy, which explains how we use your personal data under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018); and
  • our Refund Policy at www.tradeamigo.net/refund-policy, which explains refunds in more detail.

If these Terms and the Refund Policy say different things about a refund, the version that is better for you applies.

1.5 Your legal rights. Nothing in these Terms takes away or limits your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. For free advice about your consumer rights, contact Citizens Advice.

2. Key words used in these Terms

2.1 In these Terms:

  • "Customer" means a person who posts a job or books work or advice through the Platform.
  • "Tradesperson" means a tradesperson whose application to offer work or advice on the Platform has been approved by us. On the Platform, experienced tradespeople are sometimes called "experts" or "TradeAmigos".
  • "Newly qualified tradesperson" means a tradesperson who has joined the Platform to book paid support from experienced tradespeople.
  • "Job" means any work, or any paid support session (by phone, video or in person), that a Customer agrees with a Tradesperson through the Platform. A newly qualified tradesperson who books support is a Customer for that Job.
  • "Job Contract" means the agreement for a Job between the Customer and the Tradesperson.
  • "Platform fee" means the fee we charge Tradespeople for each paid Job, as explained in section 9.
  • "Working day" means a day other than a Saturday, a Sunday or a bank holiday in England and Wales.
  • "Stripe" means Stripe Payments UK Limited and its group companies, who process payments for the Platform.
3. What TradeAmigo does (and does not do)

3.1 TradeAmigo is an online marketplace. We help Customers find tradespeople, and we help tradespeople get advice and support from more experienced tradespeople. We provide the Platform, messaging tools, and payment arrangements through Stripe.

3.2 We are not a party to the Job Contract. When a Customer accepts a Tradesperson's quote, the Job Contract is made directly between the Customer and that Tradesperson. TradeAmigo is not the builder, contractor, adviser or employer, and does not carry out, supervise or guarantee the work.

3.3 Each Tradesperson is an independent business. They are not our employees, agents or partners.

3.4 We do check some information when a tradesperson applies (see section 7), but our checks are limited. We cannot promise that every Tradesperson is suitable for every Job. Customers should still use their own judgement, read profiles and reviews, ask questions and check any qualifications or registrations that matter for their Job (for example Gas Safe registration for gas work, or a competent person scheme for electrical work).

3.5 We never ask anyone to pay in cash, and Tradespeople must not ask for cash (see section 8).

4. Your account

4.1 You need an account to post a Job, book support, send a quote, message other users or take out a membership. You must:

  • be at least 18 years old;
  • give us true, accurate and up-to-date information;
  • keep your password secret and not let anyone else use your account; and
  • tell us straight away at hello@tradeamigo.net if you think someone else has used your account.

4.2 You are responsible for what happens on your account, unless it happens because we did something wrong or because someone else accessed your account without your fault.

4.3 Each person may only have one account of each type, unless we agree otherwise.

4.4 You can delete your account at any time from your Profile page. Before you do, please make sure any Jobs you are involved in are finished and any held payments have been released or refunded. Deleting your account does not cancel any Job Contract or any money already owed.

5. Posting Jobs and getting quotes (Customers)

5.1 Customers never pay TradeAmigo any fee or charge of any kind. Posting a Job, receiving quotes and contacting or messaging Tradespeople is free. The only thing a Customer pays is the price of the Job itself, and that goes to the Tradesperson under section 10.

5.2 When you post a Job, please describe it honestly and include any information a Tradesperson would reasonably need to quote, such as access issues, known hazards, or anything about the property that could affect the work.

5.3 Tradespeople who are approved for the relevant trade can see your Job and send you quotes. We may also pass your Job to a Tradesperson we think may be able to help.

5.4 For your protection, phone numbers and email addresses are hidden in chats and Job posts until a Job is booked and paid through the Platform.

5.5 You do not have to accept any quote. If you accept a quote, you will be asked to pay the agreed price through the Platform under section 10. The Job is booked once your payment has been taken.

5.6 If you ask us to, we can accept a quote on your behalf. We will only do this when you have clearly asked us to, and you will still need to pay through the Platform before the Job is booked.

6. The Job Contract between Customer and Tradesperson

6.1 The Job Contract is between the Customer and the Tradesperson. It is made up of the Job description, the quote the Customer accepted, any price change the Customer approves under section 11, and anything else the Customer and Tradesperson clearly agree in writing in the Platform's messages.

6.2 Customers' legal rights. If a Customer is a consumer, the Tradesperson must carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time if no time was agreed, and for the price agreed, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Any goods or materials they supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. These rights are against the Tradesperson, not TradeAmigo.

6.3 Cancellation rights for consumer Customers. Because Jobs are agreed online, a consumer Customer will usually have a legal right to cancel a Job Contract within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If the Customer asks for work to start within those 14 days and then cancels, they may have to pay for the work done up to the point they cancel. The Tradesperson is responsible for giving the Customer the information and cancellation form required by law. See also section 13 (Cancelling a Job and refunds).

6.4 Tradespeople's responsibilities. Each Tradesperson is solely responsible for:

  • the quality, safety and legality of their work and any materials they supply;
  • holding and keeping up to date any qualifications, registrations, certificates and licences needed for the work (for example Gas Safe registration);
  • making any building regulations notifications and giving the Customer any certificates they need (for example through a competent person scheme or the local authority's building control);
  • complying with health and safety law and keeping the Customer's property reasonably safe while they work;
  • holding suitable insurance (see section 7);
  • their own tax, National Insurance and, where applicable, VAT, including any VAT on the price they charge Customers; and
  • giving Customers the information and cancellation rights required by consumer law.

6.5 Support between tradespeople. When an experienced Tradesperson gives paid support (by phone, video or in person) to another tradesperson, the tradesperson receiving the advice remains responsible for the work they carry out for their own customers, for checking that any advice suits the situation in front of them, and for following the relevant regulations and manufacturer instructions. Support and advice are given by the experienced Tradesperson, not by TradeAmigo.

7. Joining as a Tradesperson

7.1 To offer work or advice on the Platform, you must apply and be approved by us. As part of your application you must:

  • give true and accurate details about yourself, your trade, your experience and your qualifications;
  • upload proof of current public liability insurance (this is optional for cleaners, but we recommend it).
  • agree to our no-cash rule (see section 8).

7.2 DBS checks are optional. You do not need a DBS check to join, to be approved, or to offer any service on the Platform. We do recommend that you get one, because many Customers value it. If you add details of a valid DBS certificate (a DBS Update Service number, or a certificate issued within the last 2 years), a DBS badge can be shown on your public profile. Customers should not treat the absence of a badge as meaning anything negative, and a badge is not a guarantee about a Tradesperson.

7.3 We may check the information and documents you give us, including your insurance and your work photos, and we may ask you for more information. We can approve or decline an application at our discretion, and we will tell you our decision by email. Approval is not an endorsement or guarantee of your work.

7.4 Newly qualified tradespeople who apply for support must be approved before they can book support from experienced Tradespeople.

7.5 While you are a Tradesperson, you must:

  • keep your insurance in force and send us updated proof when it renews or if we ask;
  • tell us promptly if anything in your application changes, including if your insurance lapses or a registration you rely on is suspended or removed;
  • only quote for work you are competent, qualified and insured to do;
  • describe your prices clearly and include VAT in prices you show to consumers if you are VAT registered;
  • only attend a Customer's property once the Customer has accepted your quote and paid through the Platform;
  • treat Customers and other users with respect; and
  • follow these Terms and the law.

7.6 Stripe account. To be paid, you must set up a payout account with Stripe through our onboarding process and accept Stripe's own terms, including the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Payouts can only be made once your Stripe account is set up and able to receive payouts. Stripe may ask you for identity and bank information, and Stripe decides whether to accept your account.

7.7 Business users. Tradespeople use the Platform for business purposes. Sections of these Terms that refer to consumer rights do not give Tradespeople consumer rights in their dealings with us.

8. No-cash rule

8.1 All payments for Jobs agreed through the Platform must go through the Platform.

8.2 Tradespeople must never ask a Customer for cash, a bank transfer or any other payment outside the Platform for a Job agreed through the Platform, including on arrival at a property. Tradespeople agree to this when they apply.

8.3 Customers: if a Tradesperson asks you for cash or for payment outside the Platform, please do not pay and contact us straight away at hello@tradeamigo.net. Payments made outside the Platform are not covered by the payment protections in section 12 or by our Refund Policy.

8.4 If a Tradesperson breaks the no-cash rule, we may suspend or remove their account under section 18.

9. Fees for Tradespeople

9.1 Customers never pay us anything. Customers (including newly qualified tradespeople when they book support) never pay TradeAmigo any fee or charge. Posting Jobs, receiving quotes, contacting and messaging are all free. The only fee we charge on payments is the platform fee below, which comes out of the payee's payout.

9.2 Platform fee. On every payment made through the Platform (see section 10.1), we charge a platform fee to the payee, meaning the Tradesperson who receives the payment. The platform fee is a percentage of the amount paid and is deducted from the payee's payout before it is released. Nothing is added to what the payer pays. The rate depends on the payee's membership plan:

PlanMonthly pricePlatform fee
Free£015%
Expert Standard£9.99 a month10%
Expert Priority£14.99 a month5%

9.3 The rate used is the rate for the payee's plan at the time the Job is paid for. The same rate applies to any approved price increase on that Job. If a payment is refunded in full under Rule A in section 13, no platform fee is taken.

9.4 Founding 50 offer. The first 50 eligible experienced Tradespeople who join the Founding 50 offer pay no platform fee on their first 3 completed paid Jobs. There is no time limit to use these 3 Jobs. The offer is limited to one account per person. After those 3 Jobs, the platform fee for your plan applies automatically.

9.5 Price changes. We may change our fees or plan prices in the future. We will give Tradespeople at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app before any increase takes effect. A change will not apply to a Job the Customer has already paid for. If you do not agree to a change, you can cancel your membership or close your account before it takes effect.

9.6 VAT. TradeAmigo is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged on our platform fee or memberships. The prices shown are the full amounts you pay. If we register for VAT in future, we will tell you in advance under section 9.5.

10. How every payment works: one set of rules

10.1 Which payments these rules cover. This section applies to every payment made through the Platform for a Job, including:

  • a Customer paying a Tradesperson for a Job;
  • a newly qualified tradesperson paying an experienced Tradesperson for support (section 15); and
  • any price increase the payer approves under section 11.

There are no other kinds of Job payment, and no payment is ever treated differently from these rules. In this section, the "payer" is the Customer who pays and the "payee" is the Tradesperson who is paid.

10.2 The rules. Every payment covered by section 10.1:

  • (a) is paid upfront through Stripe, under sections 10.3 to 10.7;
  • (b) has the platform fee deducted as a percentage from the payee's payout at the payee's plan rate (section 9);
  • (c) is released under the same 3-working-day confirm or Report a problem rules (section 12); and
  • (d) is refunded under the same Rules A, B and C (section 13).

These rules are applied automatically. TradeAmigo does not release or refund payments at its own discretion.

10.3 No cash. All Job payments must go through the Platform. Cash and payments outside the Platform are not allowed (section 8).

10.4 Paying upfront by Stripe. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details. The payer pays the agreed price before the work or support starts, so that the payee knows the money has been secured.

10.5 Held until release or refund. The payment is then held until it is released to the payee or refunded under sections 12 and 13.

10.6 Saved card for approved price increases. When you pay, your card details are saved securely with Stripe so that, if you later approve a price increase under section 11, the approved extra amount can be charged to the same card. We will only charge your saved card for an amount you have approved in the app.

10.7 Receipts. You will receive a receipt by email for each payment.

10.8 Payment does not guarantee the outcome of the work. It means the money has been secured and will be dealt with under these Terms.

11. Price changes during a Job

11.1 If unexpected extra work comes up after a Job has been agreed, the Tradesperson must not simply charge more. Instead they must submit a price change through the Platform, explaining what has changed and how much it will cost. A Tradesperson can also propose a price reduction.

11.2 Nothing is charged without your approval. The Customer can approve or decline a proposed price change. If the Customer declines, the agreed price stays the same and the Customer and Tradesperson should discuss next steps. The Tradesperson can withdraw a proposal before the Customer decides.

11.3 If the Customer approves a price increase, the Customer agrees to pay the extra amount. It will be charged to the saved card, or, if that does not work, the Customer will be asked to pay it securely through the Platform. The extra amount is a payment under section 10, so the same rules apply to it as to the original payment.

11.4 If the Customer approves a price reduction, the reduction is refunded to the original payment method and the Tradesperson's payout is reduced.

11.5 Each price change must be between £0.50 and £5,000. Once a Job has been marked complete, the Tradesperson can only propose a price reduction to help resolve a reported problem; they cannot propose an increase.

11.6 Any price change that is still waiting for a decision must be approved or declined before the Customer can confirm the Job, and it pauses automatic release until it is resolved.

12. Finishing a Job and releasing payment

12.1 When the work is done, the Tradesperson marks the Job as complete in the Platform. Only the Tradesperson who was paid for the Job can do this.

12.2 The Customer then has 3 working days to confirm or report a problem. The deadline is the end of the third working day (UK time) after the day the Job was marked complete. Weekends and bank holidays in England and Wales do not count. The exact release date and time is shown on the Job.

12.3 During those 3 working days, the Customer can:

  • confirm the Job is done, which releases payment to the Tradesperson straight away; or
  • report a problem, using the Report a problem button on the Job, which keeps the payment held.

12.4 If the Customer does nothing, payment is released to the Tradesperson automatically at the end of the 3 working days, unless a problem has been reported, a price change is still waiting for a decision, or a Stripe dispute or refund is in progress.

12.5 Reporting a problem. A problem must be reported through the Job's Report a problem button before the release deadline. Emailing us or using Contact us does not stop automatic release, so please always use the button. Please describe the problem clearly and give the Tradesperson a fair chance to put it right.

12.6 When a problem is reported, the payment stays held until one of these happens:

  • the Customer confirms the Job is done (for example after the Tradesperson fixes the problem), which releases payment;
  • the Tradesperson agrees to give the Customer a full refund of the payment still held, which is sent back to the original payment method;
  • the Tradesperson agrees a partial refund by proposing a price reduction that the Customer approves, after which the reduction is refunded and the rest can be released; or
  • Stripe decides a dispute or chargeback raised with the Customer's card provider, in which case the payment is dealt with according to Stripe's decision.

12.7 TradeAmigo does not decide disputes. We do not decide who is right in a disagreement about the work, and we do not release or refund held Job payments at our own discretion. Our role is to provide the tools above. We may give general guidance and point you towards independent help (see section 22).

12.8 Timings. Once payment is released, Stripe usually takes 2–3 working days to reach the Tradesperson's bank account. If the Tradesperson's Stripe payout account is not ready, the transfer is made automatically once it is. Card refunds usually reach the Customer within 5–10 working days, depending on their bank.

12.9 Once a payment has been released to a Tradesperson, it can no longer be refunded through the Platform's held-payment tools. This does not affect a Customer's legal rights against the Tradesperson, or their right to raise a dispute with their card provider.

12.10 Releasing payment does not mean the Customer accepts that the work was done properly, and it does not take away the Customer's legal rights under section 6.2.

13. Cancelling a Job and refunds

13.1 Fixed rules. These Rules A, B and C apply to every payment covered by section 10.1, including support bookings and approved price increases. Refunds and releases follow this section and section 12 automatically. TradeAmigo does not decide them at its discretion and cannot override them. Our Refund Policy at www.tradeamigo.net/refund-policy says the same thing in a shorter form.

13.2 Rule A: cancelled before work starts, or the Tradesperson doesn't turn up. If a paid Job is cancelled by either the Customer or the Tradesperson before the Tradesperson marks the Job as started ("In progress") in the app, or if the Tradesperson does not turn up at the agreed time:

  • the Customer gets a full refund to their original payment method;
  • the refund is started automatically within 48 hours of the cancellation;
  • it usually reaches the Customer's card within 5–10 working days, depending on their bank; and
  • no platform fee is taken from anyone.

To report that a Tradesperson did not turn up, the Customer uses the cancel option on the Job in the app. Until in-app cancellation is available, email hello@tradeamigo.net to cancel; we will start your full refund within 48 hours. If the Tradesperson has already marked the Job as started, Rule B applies instead.

13.3 Rule B: work started but not finished, or a problem is reported. If the Tradesperson has marked the Job as started but the work is not finished, or the Customer reports a problem within the 3 working days after the Job is marked complete, the payment stays held under the Report a problem process in section 12.6. It stays held until:

  • the Customer confirms the Job is done;
  • the Tradesperson agrees a full refund, or a partial refund or price reduction that the Customer approves; or
  • Stripe's dispute or chargeback process decides the outcome.

13.4 Rule C: Job confirmed or no problem reported. If the Customer confirms the Job is complete, or 3 working days pass after the Job is marked complete without a problem being reported, the payment is released to the Tradesperson (see section 12). After that:

  • any later complaint about the work should be raised with the Tradesperson first;
  • the Customer can still use their normal card dispute rights with their card provider; and
  • the Customer's legal rights as a consumer (see section 6.2) are not affected.

13.5 A Tradesperson who needs to cancel a paid Job, or who cannot attend, must cancel it in the app as soon as possible so that Rule A can apply.

13.6 Consumer Customers' legal cancellation rights are explained in section 6.3. These rules do not take those rights away.

14. Membership plans for Tradespeople

14.1 Tradespeople can use the Platform on the Free plan, or take out a paid membership. Our current paid plans are:

  • Expert Standard: £9.99 a month. Includes a listed profile in Find an expert, unlimited help requests and messaging, a 10% platform fee on paid Jobs, and a verified member badge.
  • Expert Priority: £14.99 a month. Everything in Standard, plus featured placement at the top of Find an expert, a Priority badge, and a 5% platform fee on paid Jobs.
  • TradeAmigo Plus (for newly qualified tradespeople): £7.99 a month or £79.90 a year. The benefits included are shown on our plans page. Support from experienced Tradespeople is paid for per booking under section 15.

Where a yearly payment option is shown on our plans page, the yearly price shown there applies.

All membership prices are the full price: TradeAmigo is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.

14.2 Payment and renewal. Memberships are paid in advance through Stripe and renew automatically each month (or each year, for yearly plans) until cancelled. We will tell you the price before you subscribe.

14.3 Cancelling. You can cancel at any time through Manage billing. Your membership stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops. We do not give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires it or we have charged you in error.

14.4 Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may try again and we will ask you to update your card. If payment cannot be taken, your membership ends and your account moves back to the Free plan and its platform fee.

14.5 If you think we have charged you in error, contact us and we will put it right.

14.6 Ranking. Expert Priority members are shown at the top of Find an expert and have a Priority badge. Otherwise, search results may take into account things like trade, location, availability and how complete a profile is.

15. Paid support for newly qualified tradespeople

15.1 Newly qualified tradespeople (including TradeAmigo Plus members) can book paid support from experienced Tradespeople by phone, by video or in person.

15.2 Price. The experienced Tradesperson sets the price (for example on their rates or in a quote), and it is agreed before booking. TradeAmigo does not charge the person booking support anything on top.

15.3 Same rules as every other payment. A support booking is a Job, and the person booking is the payer. All of section 10 applies: it is paid upfront through Stripe, the platform fee comes out of the experienced Tradesperson's payout at their plan rate, and release and refunds follow sections 12 and 13.

15.4 Contacting and messaging experienced Tradespeople on the Platform is free.

16. Reviews

16.1 After a Job is finished, the Customer can leave a star rating and review of the Tradesperson. Tradespeople can ask Customers for a review through the Platform. Reviews are shown on the Tradesperson's public profile with the reviewer's first name only.

16.2 Reviews must:

  • be about a real Job you were involved in on the Platform;
  • be honest, and based on your own experience; and
  • not be abusive, discriminatory, defamatory or include other people's personal details.

16.3 You must not write or arrange fake reviews, review your own business, offer or accept payment or any other reward for a review, or put pressure on anyone to leave or change a review. Writing or arranging fake reviews is against the law (Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024).

16.4 We may remove a review that breaks these rules or the law. We do not remove reviews just because they are negative.

17. Acceptable use

17.1 When you use the Platform, you must not:

  • break the law, or help anyone else to do so;
  • give false or misleading information, pretend to be someone else, or hold yourself out as qualified or registered when you are not;
  • ask for, offer or take payment outside the Platform for a Job agreed on the Platform;
  • try to get round the hiding of phone numbers and email addresses before a Job is booked and paid;
  • harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against anyone;
  • post content that is offensive, illegal, misleading, or that you do not have the right to share, including other people's photos or personal data;
  • send spam or use the Platform to advertise other services;
  • copy, scrape or misuse other users' data or content; or
  • try to interfere with, hack, overload or get unauthorised access to the Platform or to other users' accounts.

17.2 Your content. You keep ownership of the content you upload, such as Job descriptions, photos, profile details and messages. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and use that content to run and promote the Platform (for example, showing approved work photos on your public profile). This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where the content has already been shared with others or we need to keep it for legal reasons.

17.3 Checking content. We review some content, such as work photos and profile photos, before it goes live. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.

17.4 Messages. To keep users safe, prevent fraud, check that the no-cash rule is being followed and help with complaints, our authorised team members can read conversations on the Platform. Please see our Privacy Policy.

18. Suspending or closing accounts

18.1 We may restrict, suspend or close an account, or remove a listing or content, if we reasonably believe that the user has:

  • seriously or repeatedly broken these Terms (including the no-cash rule);
  • given false information, or let their required insurance lapse;
  • acted in a way that puts other users at risk; or
  • acted fraudulently or illegally.

18.2 If we take action against a Tradesperson's account, we will tell them why, by email, at the time the action takes effect, unless the law stops us or it would put someone at risk. If we decide to close a Tradesperson's account permanently, we will give at least 30 days' notice, unless they have seriously broken these Terms or the law, or we are legally required to act sooner. The Tradesperson can ask us to look again at our decision by emailing hello@tradeamigo.net.

18.3 Suspending or closing an account does not change the payment rules in sections 12 and 13. Payments for Jobs already paid will still be released or refunded under those sections, unless the law or Stripe requires otherwise.

18.4 You can stop using the Platform and close your account at any time (see section 4.4).

18.5 We can also close the Platform or stop offering a service. If we do, we will give you reasonable notice and make sure held Job payments are dealt with under sections 12 and 13, and refund any membership fees for time you have paid for but cannot use.

19. Our responsibility to you

19.1 What we are responsible for. We will provide the Platform with reasonable care and skill. If we fail to do this, or break these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our failure. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious it will happen, or if both you and we knew it might happen when you started using the Platform.

19.2 What we are not responsible for. Because we are not a party to Job Contracts, we are not responsible for:

  • the quality, safety, legality, timing or outcome of any Job or advice;
  • anything a Customer or Tradesperson says, does or fails to do;
  • the accuracy of information that users put on the Platform; or
  • services provided by Stripe or other third parties under their own terms.

19.3 Things we never exclude. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude, including your rights as a consumer.

19.4 Platform availability. We aim to keep the Platform running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free from errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance or updates.

19.5 Consumers. If you are a consumer, we only provide the Platform for domestic and private use. We are not responsible for any loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.

19.6 Business users (Tradespeople). If you use the Platform for business:

  • we are not responsible for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss; and
  • subject to section 19.3, our total liability to you in any 12-month period for all claims is limited to the greater of £100 and the total membership fees and platform fees you paid us in that period.
20. Changes to the Platform and to these Terms

20.1 We may update the Platform from time to time, for example to improve it, fix problems or meet legal requirements.

20.2 We may change these Terms, for example because of a change in the law, a change in how the Platform works, or new features. We will tell you about important changes by email or in the app before they take effect:

  • for Tradespeople, at least 15 days before (or 30 days for fee increases under section 9.5), unless the change is needed sooner to meet a legal requirement or to deal with an unforeseen risk to users; and
  • for Customers, a reasonable time before.

20.3 Changes will not affect a Job that has already been paid for, or a membership period you have already paid for. If you do not agree to a change, you can stop using the Platform and close your account before it takes effect. If you keep using the Platform after the change takes effect, the new Terms will apply.

20.4 The date at the top of these Terms shows when they were last updated.

21. Other important terms

21.1 Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation, for example if TradeAmigo becomes a limited company. We will tell you if this happens, and it will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our written agreement.

21.2 Third party rights. Nobody else has any rights under these Terms between you and us, except that the Job Contract terms in section 6 are also for the benefit of the Customer and Tradesperson in that Job.

21.3 If a court finds part of these Terms invalid, the rest will still apply.

21.4 Delay. If we do not insist straight away that you do something you are required to do under these Terms, we can still require you to do it later.

21.5 Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of Stripe or our hosting providers. We will tell you and do what we reasonably can to reduce the impact.

22. Complaints

22.1 If you have a complaint about the Platform or about us, please email hello@tradeamigo.net with your name, the account email address and details of the problem. We will reply and aim to resolve your complaint as quickly as we reasonably can.

22.2 Complaints about the work itself should first be raised with the Tradesperson and, for paid Jobs, through the Report a problem button (see section 12). We do not decide disputes between Customers and Tradespeople, but we may be able to point you to the right place for help.

22.3 Customers can get free, impartial advice from Citizens Advice (www.citizensadvice.org.uk, or 0808 223 1133 in England). You may also be able to raise a dispute with your card provider, or take your claim to court through the small claims process.

22.4 Tradespeople can raise a complaint about how we have treated them (including any decision about their account or listing) using the same email address. We will consider it fairly and reply within a reasonable time.

23. Law and courts

23.1 These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

23.2 You can bring legal proceedings about these Terms in the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law where you live.
