Privacy policy
Last updated September 2026. This policy explains what personal data TradeAmigo collects, why, and the rights you have over it.
TradeAmigo is a UK platform that connects tradespeople with experienced experts for remote advice and physical assistance. For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), TradeAmigo is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
You can contact us about privacy at any time using the Contact us form on this site, or by emailing hello@tradeamigo.net.
Account data: your name, email address, password (held securely by our authentication provider), account type (experienced or newly qualified) and profile details you choose to add.
Expert application data: trade, years of experience, headline, rates, availability, gallery photos of your work, and DBS information — your DBS certificate number or Update Service reference, certificate issue date and an uploaded copy of your certificate.
Job and booking data: help requests, job descriptions, photos you upload about a job, quotes, booking details, locations you provide for physical assistance, and reviews.
Messaging data: messages, photos, videos and voice notes you send in conversations on the platform.
Payment data: payments are processed by Stripe. We store payment amounts, statuses and references, but never your full card details — those are handled by Stripe under their own security standards.
Technical data: basic device, browser and usage information needed to keep the app secure and working properly.
To create and manage your account and sign you in.
To connect customers with experts, process quotes, bookings and payments, and pay experts.
To verify experts, including reviewing DBS certificates before approval for physical assistance.
To operate the credits system, memberships, refunds and dispute handling.
To send you service emails (receipts, application decisions, notifications) and to respond to Contact us enquiries.
To keep the platform safe, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal and accounting obligations.
Other users: approved expert profiles (name, trade, experience, headline, rates and approved gallery photos) are visible to people browsing the platform. Customers and experts in a booking or conversation can see the details and media shared within it.
Service providers: Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery) and our hosting/database providers. They process data only on our instructions.
We never sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
We keep your account and job data while your account is active. Payment and transaction records are kept as required for accounting and tax purposes (normally up to 6 years).
If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we must keep records for legal, accounting or dispute-resolution reasons.
Under UK GDPR you can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and request portability.
You can delete your account at any time from your Profile page, or contact us and we will handle your request within 30 days.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
We use encrypted connections, access controls and row-level security on our database. Sensitive items such as DBS certificates and job photos are stored privately and only shared with the people involved in the relevant application, booking or moderation decision.
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date below. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app or by email.
